Spirit 17 Designs is my automotive graphic art business that I run on Instagram (check it out below!). My customers get to choose their favorite racing video game from my available designs, and see their own car edited into it, with animated videos included with each order!
This business started from my own desire to see my car in some of my favorite childhood video games. After receiving interest from others, I was building backgrounds from scratch, recreating menus and coming up with ways to animate the finished product for fellow car enthusiasts. Some of my backgrounds are composite images, and some are made using photos taken directly from the game, with slight modifications to fit my needs.
Every background you see in these designs were created piece by piece out of other images to replicate the original game's surroundings. The source material for the objects and surfaces range from screenshots from different games, images found online, and sometimes digitally painted from scratch. These composite designs were necessary to deliver high resolution versions of the backgrounds for these classic games, since most of them are nearing 20 years old!
The backgrounds in the following designs are modified screenshots from the respective games, with changes made to allow for animations, or create the desired composition.
